WHAT IS TAPPING?
Tapping (EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques) is a gentle, powerful self-help tool that reduces the emotional impact of memories and incidents that trigger stress. Tapping combines coaching techniques with acupressure in the form of light fingertip tapping on acupuncture points. The tapping acts as a circuit breaker on the electromagnetic signal of the stress and diffuses its emotional trigger.
There’s a saying in the Tapping world to “try it on everything.” Tapping addresses the entire range of stressful experience, from small annoying circumstances, to phobias and compulsive behaviors, to the most profound traumas.
WHAT MAKES TAPPING WORK?
Stress and trauma are stored in our limbic system, one of the oldest parts of our brain. Our limbic system developed pre-verbally, which is why years of talk therapy often do not reach the core energetics of our stress.
EFT Tapping sends a tiny electromagnetic pulse that down-regulates the limbic system and lets the brain and nervous system know “it’s okay.” The Tapping releases the stressful negative emotions associated with painful memories and relegates these to a more neutral part of the brain.
