On New Years Eve I knew I wasn’t going out to party. I’ve been pretty allergic to social gatherings for a while and have finally accepted it and let go of the usual FOMO! With that said, I do think I could be nearing the end of my long social coma, but we’ll see..
So I told my son, Des, that I”d take him to a 7pm movie, and much to my surprise there were actually 3 or 4 movies I was really interested in seeing! I’m usually a bit out of the loop to know what’s playing or who the actors even are.
But there was the Dylan movie, Conclave, Nosferatu (more on that later), and I figured Des would like Gladiator 2 and that I could probably find things to like about it, hahaha.
Alas, all that my 16 year old son wanted to see was Mufasa. And I couldn’t talk him out of it.
So I considered how this may be the last time I get to see a cartoon movie with my big boy and I would welcome it with open arms.
And true to brand, I was crying early on and loving the story, the animation was incredible, I was totally into it. The songs though, were extra corny, I gotta say. Actually, I almost busted a gut laughing when shortly into the second safari serenade Des turned to me and said, “this is why poaching exists”.
My reason for mentioning this movie is regarding a scene between young Mufasa and his parents as they stood at the edge of a cliff, looking into the golden horizon. His mother tells him that there, in the distance, was a wondrous, magical land called Milele. At Milele it is paradise - lush earth, waterfalls, animals of every kind living in harmony. She tells him that that place is the end goal, it’s where they are ultimately headed, and that they don’t have to wait to get there. His mother invites young Mufasa to close his eyes and dream that he is there. See it and feel it and smell it all around him. The scene shifts to depict the earth coming alive with flowers and dew and beautiful animals all around the lovely lion fam. And they are there, in their minds, in their hearts and in their frequency.
Practicing visualization in an embodied way to tune ourselves to the life we desire, has a powerful basis in both neuroscience and quantum physics. When we vividly imagine our goals and how we want to feel in our lives, our brain interprets these mental images and their corresponding bodily sensations as real experiences. This activates the Reticular Activating System (RAS), a filter in the brain that focuses our attention on opportunities, people, or resources that align with our vision. For example, visualizing career success might make us notice openings or connections we might otherwise overlook. This mental process helps us naturally move toward the reality we want.
Embodied visualization also rewires the brain through neuroplasticity, the ability of neural pathways to strengthen with repeated use. By imagining and feeling ourselves achieving a goal, we reinforce the mental maps needed to take action and build confidence. Mirror neurons, which fire when we mentally rehearse actions, further prepare us to succeed by reducing fear and creating familiarity with new experiences. This repeated practice boosts motivation, as the brain releases dopamine, the “feel-good” chemical, when we visualize positive outcomes.
From the perspective of quantum physics, embodied visualization taps into the idea that reality exists as a field of infinite possibilities, often referred to as the quantum field. Some theories suggest that focused attention, like vividly imagining a desired outcome, influences which possibilities take shape in our lives. This is related to the observer effect, where consciousness may impact how potential outcomes become reality. While this is still an area of scientific exploration, it aligns with the idea that our thoughts and energy can subtly shape the world around us.
Another quantum concept, resonance, suggests that everything vibrates at certain frequencies. When we focus on a goal with clarity and emotion, it’s believed that our thoughts and energy resonate with experiences that match that frequency, “attracting” them into our lives. This idea ties to the interconnected nature of the universe, where everything is linked in ways science is still just barely beginning to understand.
In simple terms, pairing visualization with feeling works by aligning our brain’s focus, habits, and actions with our goals while potentially interacting with a larger, interconnected reality. Whether through the neuroscience of motivation or the quantum possibility of influencing outcomes, imagining and getting a felt sense for the life we want creates a clear pathway—mentally, emotionally, and energetically—for us to move toward it. Mufasa’s mama knew it and it helped him to reach and create his kingdom.
I want to mention here that what I’m referring to is not trendy #manifestationmoves. For this type of resonance to work it’s magic, it goes beyond ego driven quests for status or material gain. We live in a mysterious world with Oneness at it’s core, and this great mystery knows far better what is in our highest good (and in turn, the highest good of all), than our little human brains can even begin to conceive of “manifesting”. With that said, our minds are extraordinarily powerful tools that can support our journey towards that mysterious greatest good, should we choose to heal and uplevel our imaginations and what we’re willing to feel.
And here’s the thing - you have nothing to lose, except redundant and recycled thoughts that may be keeping you in holding patterns. So elevate your imagination, make space for feeling it come alive within you, and create the conditions to live a dreamier day to day that supports your desired frequency. Then observe the regal unfolding, within and around you, with gratitude and awe.
